1 - 30  Art at the Schoolhouse is a Stanwood Camano Arts Guild show in conjunction with the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. Held in the historic 1888 Schoolhouse located at Christianson's Nursery, the show will have a variety of home and garden art in a beautiful and quiet setting along one of the main routes for viewing the tulips. 2-6  Third- to fifth-graders are invited to Stanwood Library’s Spring Spectacular to spend from April 2 to 6, celebrating the 560th birthday of Leonardo da Vinci, learning about his genius inventions, and making their own model ornithopters and paper airplanes. The week will kick off with Leonardo's Flying Machines at 1 p.m. Monday, April 2 with learning about Leonardo’s experiments with flight. More flying fun can be had at Leonardo, Patron Saint of Paper Airplanes! from 10:30 a.m. to noonTuesday, April 3 and from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4. Children will be able to build a model of Leonardo's Self-Supporting Bridge from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 6. 10  Slamwood!  Lovers of literature and poets 12 and older are invited to participate in Slamwood!, the Stanwood/Camano Friends of the Library second annual community poetry slam at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10 at Leatherheads Pub & Eatery.  There are 15 slots for poets or a team of writers who dare to perform their original poetry. Lovers of the spoken word can cheer on the 15 scribes who will compete in three rounds. Five judges from the community will select winners who will receive cash prizes for first to third places, $100, $50 and $25. April is National Poetry Month.  Slamwood! will take place in the upstairs meeting room at the pub, 10209 - 270th St. NW. Stanwood. Slamwood! is free but the event is no-host food and drink.

21  CASA’S LITTLE WHISKERS OPEN HOUSE  CASA, the Camano Animal Shelter Association, will host their third annual Little Whiskers Open House on April 21st  from 11 am to 3 pm. Little Whiskers Open House is a baby shower for the kittens who will flood the shelter during “kitten season.” Guests are encouraged to bring a donation from our Kitten Wish List – Kitten specific wet or dry food, KMR Kitten Milk Replacement formula, kitten feeding bottles or provide a monetary donation.  Stop in at the shelter, learn about kitten fostering, meet our adoptable cats and dogs, get your face painted and enter the raffle!  CASA, 360-387-1902, see website: http://www.camanoanimalshelter.org

 
21  Warm Beach Senior Community is planning for the much anticipated Annual All-You-Can-Eat-Spaghetti Dinner and Silent Auction. This will be the fourth year this event has taken place and every year it has gained in popularity.  The food is never ending and the items for auction get bigger and better each year.  Proceeds will go towards a project that will benefit all of our residents and their quality of life. Some of the highlights for this year’s auction include an XBOX 360/Kinect, new set of men’s golf clubs, dinner prepared by our own professional chef in your home, weekend condo stay in Ocean Shores, WA, cashmere shawl, furniture and many more exciting items. Residents, local businesses, staff and friends of Warm Beach donate all the wonderful gifts. Plan to attend this annual tradition on April 21st from 4:00PM to 6:30 PM in Beachwood Lounge to help support our community. The menu includes Spaghetti with three different sauces, salad, bread, dessert and beverages. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Marketing office or the Main Office for $10.00 or at the door.
